Advertisement The original slogan of Tama's Starclassic drums when they debuted in 1994 was "Back To The Basics." The new Starclassic Bubinga Elite Series goes well beyond the basics...and then some. "Starclassic Bubinga Elite takes best concepts of our Starclassic Exotix limited editions," explained Masaki Mizuno of Tama in Bensalem, PA, "the extreme Japanese craftsmanship and the standout exotic finishes, and then expands those concepts to levels beyond anything anyone has done before in drums that weren't limited editions. With Starclassic Bubinga Elite, you're not limited to a set configuration or edition number, and there are vast number of different finishes including quilted bubinga, two different cordia outer-ply finishes, two double-glitter banded finishes, and three tricolor glitter wraps." Many of the Starclassic Bubinga Elite sets will be on display at the 2009 NAMM musical instrument convention in Anaheim, including the new Shattered Turquoise Tricolor finished set and the Quilted Bubinga outer-ply set pictured here.
